SELF-DRIVING TECHNOLOGY INTO MID RANGE CARS:

A completely autonomous self-driving cars are still very far from the life style of common people. And now these are rapidly growing in market with wide range of features that includes sensors for warning lane departures and imminent crashes and even apply brakes if you don't.

There are also radar systems that warns if you are about to dash with the car in front. In such cases it flashes warning LED's and even prepares the breaks, building up pressure so that when you tap the breaks, you will get full stopping power.
These kinds of features were once available only in luxury cars like Mercedes & volvo models.
A feature called adaptive cruise when is turned on you locked at a fixed distance behind the car in front of you. The ultrasonic systems helps the car in parking itself and cameras helps to avoid bumps into something while backing up the car to avoid unpredictable accidents.

App Tracks Your Driving Habbits:

AT&T researchers have created a system that reports on driver's real-time behaviour and reveals whether a particular mistake might have been caused by the use of phone while driving. this is done by combining the information from cars' on board computers and drivers' smart phones.
The company expects that this prototype would be a cloud-based chaperone for teen drivers. It can rate any drivers abilities and also changes in those abilities.
It works as a device inside the car gives the vehicles information like speed, acceleration, steering and braking - together with GPS co-ordinates. In the mean time the app on the phone receives the information from the car.
The screen shot shows how a parent might track teenage drivers in real time.

It allows a parent to monitor kids' driving behaviour in real time. If your kid is making an sms while driving, you will be able to log it and even remotely disable the phone. In such condition, the only thing to make an sms is to take out the unit from the car, i.e., to unplug it. but we can detect that too, and send an alert. It also alerts the parent by describing where the kid is, whether he is exceeding the speed limit, is he wearing seat belt, whether he has steered or braked abruptly and is he talking or texting when those things happened.
This system is still a research project.
